We got there about a half hour before the show started so we went into the gift shop. TDawgYo bought a Hairspray keychain, but I couldn't justify $8 for the tiny piece of metal (although I really wanted one.) The freaky looking cashier guy gave us a voucher for two free drinks from the bar, which we were quite excited about. We finally found the chick who was holding our tickets and made our way into the theater. We were on row N, seats 72 and 71 (i think), so we were really close to the stage. An older couple was seated on my left, the lady started talking to me and asking if I'd seen the show before, where I was from, etc. After about ten people climbed over us to get to their seats, with drinks in hand, we decided to use our drink voucher. The lines at the bar were long but went quickly. Tashina got a Strawberry Daquiri and I got a Pina Colada (both virgin, gosh.) The lady in the seat next to me saw mine and demanded her husband get her one. Haha, she turned to me and said, "You gotta be firm with them." Hahahaha.
How boring would my life be if I wasn't raised on musicals?
From the opening ("Good Morning Baltimore") to the curtain call ("You Can't Stop the Beat") it is an nonstop upbeat party. The choreography is so fun, too.
I found out something new I enjoy about Tashina: she has just as loud of a laugh as me!!! There were moments in the show that the audience was pretty quiet and T and I would just be laughing our heads off, very loudly. ("Round 3: is when we kiss inside his car") Hahahaa. I love being with an out-loud laugher.
Paul Vogt does such a great job as Edna Turnblad, oh my. Hil.ar.i.ous! I'd seen him on MadTV and on Princess Diaries 2, so it was fun to see him in person.
"Big, Blonde, and Beautiful" is my new very favorite song.
EDIT
I stupidly failed to mention that Elizabeth gave me the tickets. They were for her and she didn't have to call me, but she did. And I'm very grateful to her. :D
