A look back

I started this blog two years ago today. Wow. Those two years have flown by. (I think I started my original one in August or September of 2003)

Its an interesting experience to go back and read the older stuff I've written. Man, I'm a loon--I have a great memory for really unimportant stuff (Lance Bass of *NSYNC's brother-in-law's name is Ford Lofton, and he and Lance's sister, Stacy, have two kids, for example) but I forget important things SO quickly. Especially vacations. I was trying to recall details of the submarine ride I went on in Hawaii in 2000 but all I could remember was: I hated how white my legs were and wished I hadn't worn capris, our tour guide dude was attractive, and the how the sea turtle looked as it swam past us.

I can hardly recall many vivid details about my trip to Germany in '99. I just get random flashbacks. (Ugh!) Like wandering the little market where my mom bought a hat for each Brayden and Camden, that Bradyo named his "Orcasinni hat" (what the?!) I think that was the same day as I got my first giant Sprite bottle (which began my collection until the maid threw it out) but I'm not really sure. I only remember Mittenwald because thats where I finally found my only-released-in-Germany (although later available in the states as an "import") *NSYNC CD and because of a "[tiny print] There is no [large print] HARD ROCK CAFé [tiny print] in [large print] Mittenwald" I wanted that shirt. I hate not being able to remember things! So I'm glad I started this place, where I can keep random things like that.


March 04: 19-years-old, living with my parents in Orem, Utah. I was finishing up my stint as Debate Team Coach/Asst Coach/Thingy.

April 04: I moved into an apartment in Provo, Utah. I was really really really excited about the move.

May 04: I attempted to dye my nearly-black hair blonde, only to turn it 3 shades of orange. I wore things like: "a white biased-cut linen skirt, pink tank top under black lace top, big thick ol' silver hoop earrings, black toeless pumps, and pink aviator glasses." This was such a fun month. I can fit over 60 Skittles in my mouth at one time. I came to Las Vegas with Meridith and Deborah to watch Caroline and Emma Kate while Elizabeth, Jayar, and my parents went to Cancun.

June 04: I saw Harry Potter 3 with my roommates. That was one of the very few activities we did together. It was a lot of fun, actually. I put too much seasoning on my popcorn, however (which thwarted my roomies plans of eating mine rather than getting their own. Mwa ha ha.) Chris Money got back from Iraq sometime around here. I got practically ignored by The Honeyman for a few weeks because of it. I also got my very first (and only [so far]!) speeding ticket. Blah

July 04: The Honeyman and I totally staked out the Cirque Lodge "The Studio" in Orem and I saw someone who looked extremely like Mary-Kate Olsen in the window...while using high powered binoculars, hahaha. I also fell down the stairs and completely messed up my knee, which still shoots stinging pain up my leg when bumped. I met Jonny Lang, who has been my favorite guitarist/solo artist since I was in 8th grade. Oh, and I also turned 20-years-old. Rock on.

August 04: I came down to Las Vegas with The Honeyman for about a weekend. My bestest friend, Sarah, moved to Florida. I got her a big card and a magazine to have on the plane, but in typical ME style, I was late getting it to her house and she'd already left. I went to Lagoon with just my parents and Meridith, which was a lot of fun. Then Sarah moved back home from Florida. Yay! And I moved back in with my parents.

September 04: While at the Gateway Mall in SLC I stood behind Elizabeth Smart (of kidnapped fame) in line for Panda Express. I wrote "THAT IS ELIZABETH SMART" on my hand and said to my bestest friend, Sarah, "Hey Sarah, guess what?" over and over and over until she finally looked down at my hand. I went to see "Weird" Al Yankovic in concert at the Utah State Fair with my dad. I loooved that concert, it was so much fun. My darling niece Elaine (Ella) was born and my darling nephew Luke was born.

October 04: My darling nephew Hyrum was born. On my way to the hospital I was rearended. I went to San Francisco with my parents, Meridith, Clarke, and Aliesha. That was a lot of fun! I got to see The Lion King again (the first time was in L.A. in '01) because our waiter at dinner mentioned that it was in town and we asked the concierge if there were tickets still available. :)

November 04: I threw my back out on election day. Ugh. I held on to my mothers shoulder for support as I hobbled into the elementary school, all hunched over, to cast my ballot. Then we went to Brick Oven to celebrate my uncles birthday. I hardly spoke, which is not surprising as I rarely speak at extended family functions.

December 04: I spent 3 weeks down here in Las Vegas, hanging out with Elizabeth. I made (with a TON of help from Liz) little aprons for each of my older nieces (for Christmas), including hand crossstitching their name onto a pocket for the front. They ended up really cute, I was pleased. I found a kids book about cooking that fit perfectly into the pocket, so I got one for each of the girls. I spent New Years Eve with Reba at a singles ward dance then at her friends apartment in Provo.

January 05: I put my New Years Resolution of losing weight into full gear. I also became pretty social in my singles ward. I went up to Park City with Reba and two of her friends during the Sundance Film Festival. We got in to the after party for Kevin Costners film, but I later read that the celebrities had basically left that party a half hour earlier because of another big party starting; but it doesnt matter why I was let in, just that I WAS and many people weren't. Aliesha got me addicted to Dawsons Creek by suggesting I borrow her DVDs of the first few seasons. Blast, I love that show.

February 05: I had lost over 15 pounds...because I rock. I came down to Las Vegas with Clarke, Aliesha, and Alexa. On the way home Clarke got a speeding ticket for going like 7 over the limit (LAME-O) and Lexi and I watched Dawsons Creek on the portable DVD player. I cut Meridith's hair really really short, which turned out to be the best look on her. I met some guy Sarah wanted to set me up with, yeah...that never really worked out.

March 05: I came down to Vegas to hang out with Liz & fam and go with them to Knott's Berry Farm. We went to IKEA, which I absolutely loved! I got kicked off a ride because the restraint wouldn't fit over my well endowed chest; the ride operator attempted to go about closing my restraint with such force I thought he was trying to resuscitate me. He finally took a step back and said, "It's not going to work." And I climbed over the crotch pole and got off the ride. Elizabeth dyed my orange and light brown hair a simple medium brown and I gave myself bangs. Hallelujah!

April 05: I went to see The Wizard of Oz and then met the cast & crew afterward. I quickly became good friends with those people I met, including Danielle, Ellie, Aaron, AJ, Kelly, and Debbie. I had also lost 26 pounds total. I threw a huge (compared to others I've hosted) birthday party for Ellie; which was a lot of fun.

May 05: I went to the midnight showing of Star Wars Epi III all by myself. "Lahoo-seher" -35.5 pounds total. The Nextel Boyfriend and I had our one conversation.

June 05: I went to England and France with my parents and Meridith. Which can be read about here I went to Lagoon with Sarah and Candance, which was a blast.

July 05: I saw Kelly Clarkson perform on the 4th with a bunch of friends, which was a fun night. I slept out on the streets of Provo with Ellie, Danielle, Hilary, Amanda, Ryan, and Megan. I turned 21-years-old and celebrated by going to IHOP with Deb, Aaron, Hyrum, and Merdith then swimming with most of my siblings and their kids then later (much much later, like almost not-my-birthday-anymore later) went to IHOP with some friends.

August 05: I got my first flat tire. I went to Lagoon with my parents and all of my siblings and their families.

September 05: I suddenly and very unexpectedly moved to Las Vegas.

October 05: I got my second flat tire. I finally did what I said I would and dressed up as Anna Nicole Smith for Halloween.

November 05: I went up to Orem for Thanksgiving. That was a weird feeling.

December 05: Tashina, Honeyman, Zack, and Courtney came down; which was fun.

January 06: The new roommate moved in, officially.

February 06: Sarah came down last week, stopping on her way to California. It was nice to see her.

March 06: We'll see how it goes, eh?
