I was having a hard time deciding what to wear for Halloween. I even went through a list of things I've done in years past, thinking I'll just repeat one. I was thinking either a green M&M again or Beth Chapman again or Dana Scully again. And then I found this pattern (for 25 cents) and decided it would be perfect for a Princess Leia dress. :D
The only problem is that it is a size 10 from the early 1970's, which is more like a 6/8 now. I have never been a size 6/8, I went from childrens sizes to a womens 12. So, uh, I need to alter the pattern before this dress can work for me.
I broke out my sewing kit. :D There is not an emoticon big enough for the cheesy grin on my face while I opened the plastic for the very first time. Taking out my very own pincushion, opening the pack of pins, placing said pins into said pincushion. Opening my very own one-of-these-thingys. Playing with each little tape measure of my very own. Playing Susie Homemaker with Captain Conundrum.
I have so many childhood memories of these scissors. This is the first time I've opened my very own pair, which was a gift from my mom.
Finally pinned. Ready to make the alterations before cutting it out.
Yay, one sleeve finished.
Trying on the sleeves:
The hood. Its really ridiculous looking, but not horrible when pushed back.
Who knew a pincushion could make me so proud?
With both sleeves and the hood:
I'm not finished yet, obviously. I ran out of fabric, haha. I have enough to make a floor-length dress in back and a miniskirt in front. Oops.
I'm totally ready to apply for Project Runway.
