I went up to Cedar City and back on Saturday.
Elizabeth, Luke, and I were bringing my sister Deborah and her son Hyrum up there, where my parents would pick them up for the drive back up to Orem.
I woke up to the phone ringing at 8-ish a.m., it was Elizabeth telling me to get ready because she was picking me up soon. I gathered together all my roadtrip essentials including my iPod, a blanket, some soda, etc. My sisters both openly mocked my outfit: black booty shorts, my blue "I'm really excited to be here" Tshirt, and my debate team hoodie sweatshirt. Elizabeth took one look at me and exclaimed, "You're going out to lunch in public." I explained that I had a pair of pants in my bag, so everything was taken care of :D
After piling into Liz's Navigator (Elizabeth driving, Deborah in shotgun, and me in what Elizabeth called the "Nanny seat"--next to Hyrum and in front of Luke) we went by McDonalds. After consuming more than half of my days alotted calories we got on the freeway and started our trip.
I had put together a mix on my iPod I appropriately named "CarTripMix" so I suggested we play it. High strings were heard as the soundtrack to Yentl began. We discussed how much we are like our father, and how he taught us to cry to beautiful music.
Really my sisters are the people I have the most fun with on roadtrips. They are the only people who will not only NOT complain when I turn on an obscure showtune like, "I'd Do Anything" from Oliver!, but will ask that I turn it up, and will then sing along! What joy!
It was completely blizzardy from Mesquite until Cedar City. Ick.
We met my parents at Wendys (tradition....tradition!) and sat with them for a little while until making the switch. It felt odd to drive home without Deborah and Hyrum.

We need to make mention that one of your favorite sisters was not present on the trip at all--and she was deeply saddened.
Oh, and I just finished working out, and guess what I was blasting...Yentl.
