I rely heavily on my hearing. I'm understanding that more this week than ever before. My hearing is about 3/4 gone in my left ear and about 1/4 gone in my right. Everything sounds like it is going on the the next room. I stood in front of the sink for about two minutes just staring at the water rushing out of the faucet. It was so surreal. I could see the water but it sounded like it was far away.
SMILE AND NOD. That is pretty much all I can do at this point. An insurance agent came in the office today and talked to me for about five minutes. I just kept saying "yeah" and "oh, uhhuh." I'm still not sure what the heck he was saying to me. I tried to be attentive because he was nice--he remembered my name from when he came in last week and brought me a bamboo tree in a funky vase. I'm always willing to be nice to the people who give me free stuff. Fox's Pizza Den has my love because of the mug the old dude gave me when he brought in menus :)
But I digress.
It has been a very weird day because of my inability to hear well. I feel like I've just gotten out of a shower or a pool (or some other body of liquid, who knows what my weekends are filled with these days) and my ears have yet to clear. It is getting frustrating. The ringing phone is muffled and I feel like everyone around me is mumbling.
I have pretty great hearing. I am infamous for yelling across the house for someone to stop talking about me. I'm very rarely surprised by someone walking into the room, I've usually pinpointed where they are in the hall way before they make it into the room.
Maybe it's not me, maybe it is everyone else. Everyone is trying to drive me to insanity. A big conspiracy against my mental health.
Please, everyone, STOP MUMBLING!!!

I am really feeling for you. Do you have an ear infection? I had one this past summer and it was miserable. I flew to Washington two days later and the air presure change with already not being able to hear was almost to much! I couldn't even hear myself walking, it is such an odd feeling, creapy. On a positive note it really makes you realize how much you apprectiate your hearing. Good luck!

Thanks!
I don't think I have an ear infection, I believe fluids have settled in my ...uh...something or other tubes. Ok, I really don't know what I'm saying.
