While in Las Vegas my mother and I went to a Barnes & Noble. I'd forgotten how much I love bookstores. Even if I don't have any money with me, I like to spend hours perusing the isles. I am always amazed at the extereme array of topics. How-To books for the most random things!
I love winter because you have the opportunity as well as the excuse to wear a long nightgown and slippers, turn on the fireplace, and just lie there reading-the snow falling softly outside the window. Ah, gorgeous!
I'm not sure why I love reading so much. Perhaps it is because I wasn't forced into it at school, having learned beforehand at home. I remember learning to read books like Zip Pop Go when I was 3 and 4-years-old. And probably because I saw my parents and siblings read for leisure.
I don't know if I am morbid or something, hahaha, but I love crime/mystery novels. I love the Perry Mason books. I have read all of Mary Higgins Clark's except the brand new one. I have nearly finished Sue Grafton's alphabet series. And now I am on 3 of Janet Evonavich's number series. Plus I loved the book "Stiff" about human cadavers. Very interesting.
But then again I love ones like the Princess Diaries series, Harry Potter, and the Shopaholic series.
I never know what new books/authors are good because I just bascially wander the library and pick up ones whose cover I like. That's horrible, I know! Sometimes I will pick books based on something equally dumb like if I enjoy the author's sister (in David Sedaris' case), or if I know a favorite celebrity of mine likes it, or if has a picture of lipstick, a high heel, or a shopping bag on the cover (Hahaha!), I'm weird like that.
I need some book recommendations badly.
...That's it; I'm going to Borders.
