It is a soapbox I get on often, but that is because it is prevalent in my life:
I was 5'8" by the age of 11; I was taller than my sixth grade teacher. I have been 5'10" since the eighth grade, when all the boys around me were just leaving their 5'3" behind. I got asked to "slouch a little bit" while slowdancing.
Why in the heck is it a big deal for me to wear heels?
A) Because of my height???
Who wears more heels than anyone I can think of? Oh yes, that would be models. What is the average starting height for a model? Oh yes, that would be 5'8".
Heels do SO much more than add height. (If I was going for additional height I would just wear platforms; heck, they are easier to walk with anyway!!!) Heels give the illusion of an elongated leg, making them look better. Heels force you to walk uprightly, keeping you in perfect posture. And lets face it: some flats make you look like a Hobbit.
B) Because it makes me intimidating???
(definition- to make timid; to fill with fear)
If three inches makes the difference in what intimdates you and what doesn't then you are lame-ola!
Greg: "You are already intimidating."
Susannah: "Not much of a difference between eye-to-eye and two inches higher?"
Greg: "Exactly."
If I am supposedly going to scare away people by being three inches taller than I am already I don't think those are people I want to hang around with in the first place.
Tashina can back me up on this, she is taller than me!

Besides, I am now up to a shoe size 11 or 12 anyway. There is very very very few companies that design for that big. I was in a boutique in Vegas, I think it was Prada (though it could have been Gucci, they blended in my head), and I was asking the salesperson about their shoe sizes. She said she sees a 10 from time to time, but never past that.
Sarah and I are in talks about starting a shoe company for larger sizes. It will be kick butt-y!

...and in the meantime, I will continue to wear 3-4 inch heels.
