Today was fun. Weird, but fun. I spent most of the day with Ryan. He called and woke me up this morning, then came over. We finished his project for his communications class (which took us from Noon to past 5!) then we went to a BBQ with his FHE.
Who needs a boyfriend when they have a male best friend?
My friends are so boring when they have boyfriends. Our whole relationship changes. So I decided I'm glad, for the moment, that I don't have a boyfriend. No DTRs, no obligations to call every day, no jealousy, no cheeziness.
I have a male best friend, Honeyman. There are few (though important) differences between him and a boyfriend: Someone who enjoys me regardless of my silliness, obsessions, bad moods, etc. ...and thinks that those only add to who I am; laughs at my jokes (that's important, I'm not witty for my own amusement...wait, yeah I am, I'm only encouraged when others laugh); remembers my birthday ($40 gift card, two dozen roses, and being willing to be my date to my birthday dinner...I'd say that's remembering. Sarah, not calling me doesn't count as 'not remembering' in Susannah's book of friendship rules specifically for Sarah so stop saying it does ;) ); holds my hand while walking around in public, hugs me goodbye on occasion, etc.; calls just because we haven't talked for a few days and misses me; calls me while I'm on vacation 'just to talk'; prefers my company to other friends; tells me I look skinny in any outfit, hehehe!; listens when I am complaining; offers to kick the trash out of anyone mean to me; wipes away my tears (sometimes literally, sometimes figuratively) when I'm so stressed out I bawl; gets me a Diet Pepsi even when I say I don't want anything, haha, knowing I do want it; will put up with me on a week-long roadtrip, then continue to want to be with me after we get home; and doesn't hold it against me when I make fun of him, HAHAHAHA!!!
Who needs a boyfriend?
I also have a female best friend, Sarah, who is everything mentioned above, and means more to me than any other friend ever could, and whom I've known for over 19 years. ...But she doesn't hold my hand. ;) Hahahaha!
...Sarah, don't kill me. I like this pic of you.
