I don't want to question anyone's parenting, but I am glad I'm not Ryan's sister.
Ryan (The Honeyman) was invited to go with Chris (The Money) to California, by way of Las Vegas. Ryan really wanted to go, but was laid off two weeks before they were to leave. He sat down and looked at his finances and decided he couldn't afford to go with Chris. Wonderful. Perfect. End of discussion for normal people.
Ryan's mom screamed at him that he should go with Chris. Ryan explained he can't afford it. His mom was yelling dumb things like "It's an opportunity to go on a free trip!" Ok, no. Free trip? More like $500-$600. Opportunity to go? He doesn't have a freakin' job. He doesn't have any freakin' responsibilities. He can leave at any moment! This is his only opportunity to be away from home? What are you doing, chaining him to a wall otherwise?
Now he and I are going to Las Vegas this weekend. His mom is yelling at him (as usual) for going now, but not going with Chris. Ryan explained we are doing the cheap or free things (Chris was going to see Blue Man Group, then a bunch of amusement parks in CA), and this trip will be at least $300 less expensive than going with Chris.
This is where she should be yelling for him to go because "It's an opportunity to go on a free trip!", not yelling he shouldn't go. What the?!? Yesterday, as we were walking out the door, she yelled "My son is such a MORON!"
So: Mom, Dad, Thank you for not being psychos.
