indeed you ARE powerful as the emporer has forseen

...would someone explain to me the scene on Degoba where Luke is training and has the fight with Vader and then it's his own face looking back at him? He failed? Why did he fail? Huh?...I need to rewatch that.

If Leia has "always known" that she and Luke are siblings then why did she kiss him back in epi IV (or was it V?) ?

Caroline: "I love Chewbacca."
Susannah: "Oh really? Why?"
Caroline: "He's just such a cute little teddy bear."
Susannah: "He's far from little. And he's a Wookie, not a bear."
Caroline: "He's just so cute."
Susannah: "Interesting, I prefer Han."

A few of the issues I have with the prequals of Star Wars is the lack of a Han-like comedic relief, Hayden Christensen, and Natalie Portman.
Don't get me wrong, they are still cool. The chase of the would-be assassin in Epi II and Yoda's big fights in both II and III are awesome. And I love Ewan McGregor. But I can't stand the monotone blahness of Hayden. Ick. And Natalie is just blech. And the scripts are so lacking.

I borrowed Jayar's trilogy and the girls watched it with me; mocking that their auntie would like a "boy movie" the entire time.

I'm more into Leia, but that's just me. As for the scene on Degoba, it's symbolic of the fact that in killing Darth Vader Luke was really killing himself and becoming that which he hated (represented in Vader). He would be effectually turning to the dark side by killing Darth Vader in anger.

As to the Leia and Luke relationship . . . I think it's easy to say that sometimes people "know" things subconsciously long before they know them consciously. I think what she meant is that they had a connection, and that once the truth was revealed, it all made sense to her. Plus, she only kissed Luke to make Han jealous. It wasn't because she really was in love with Luke at all. It was just a ploy.

As for the prequels, I hate them all. They're crap from start to finish, although they finish a little better than they started. They don't hold a candle to the original Star Wars legacy, and I honestly feel that they are a disgrace. I think George Lucas is a meddling old has-been who doesn't know when to walk away at the top of his game. He is, in many ways, the Jim Davis of the film industry. Sure, Garfield was good 20 years ago, but now it isn't even worth reading. Same with Star Wars. When George Lucas was in his prime, and wasn't living in his own private world (called the Skywalker Ranch, I believe) - he did some phenomenal things. I give him full credit for that. But then he lost touch with reality, and became almost as weird as Michael Jackson. It makes me angry that something I held so dear to my heart for so many years would be resurrected in such a shallow, hollow, and pathetic fashion. I feel betrayed for having even liked Star Wars - because now it has gone from being the coolest thing of my childhood to a running joke about how badly George Lucas can ruin a good thing.
