I am not good at arguing because I get so emotionally wrapped up in it all. (Arguing, not fighting. Fighting is pure emotion. Arguing is two sides holding up their idea with valid points.) A (totally wrong) 15-year-old calling me "Dearie" and contradicting herself in her already wacked out argument only ticks me off. And it will follow me for days, annoying me. And I can't turn around and like the person again. They are forever tainted...at least for a while. There are still some people from my high school debate team that I wouldn't enjoy being around because of some idiotic argument where I just kept thinking 'They can't really be this stupid, can they?!'
I was once judging a student congress round at a debate tournament and a bill came up about copyright laws and peer-to-peer networking. I was so annoyed at the end of that round that I don't think I talked to anyone on my team for a few hours. (I was like "Are you serious?! Are you even listening to yourself?!") But that is a soapbox for me because of my dad being a music publisher and copyright laws keeping food on the table.
