"Are we sure SHE's not trying to kill her brother?" -Angela

A thing I've learned about myself recently is I rip paper often. I'm not sure why that is. If I'm going to throw a paper away I will rip it first. Sometimes I go the crumpling route, but usually its a rip right down the center. If the remaining pieces are large they may get another rip.
What the?

I'll sit here talking to someone on the phone and be unconsiously ripping a piece of paper into shreds.

I do it with the mail, too. I always laughed at my mother for ripping letters in two before throwing them away; I thought it was so odd. But here I am doing it! ...after I remove the "your company name here" fake credit cards; i love those things far too much.

Where does this come from? A plea for some sort of privacy? Does it stem from the days when my mother would read the notes I threw away? Thus forcing me to rip them into tiny tiny pieces before disposing of them? (Not that they ever said anything of interest on them.)

I really don't know why I do this paper ripping. I've even found the type of paper I like best! Postcards. Postcards are the coolest things to rip in half EVER. Once you get that first pop of a tear going its smooth sliding through the rest.

Wow, I'd be a party for some therapist.
