You deserve to know whats going on. I deserve to know whats going on.
Next Friday, the 9th, I am taking a gigantic leap of faith in myself and everyone around me: I am moving to Las Vegas, Nevada. If everything works out according to plan, I will probably be there about two years. Two years. Wow. I will need to be there at least a year to earn the money I need to go to school; and the school I want to attend is there, therefore adding another 13 months to get through the program.
I can't believe I'm doing this. Really doing this. 3 days ago I was complaining to myself that my daily life is boring, so I was starting a new system for myself. My iCal (caledar on OS X) is full of random activities for September. I got a new calling in church, I was beginning to become active in the events of my ward. Only 3 days ago! Saturday morning I was playing volleyball, being excited that I finally had friends in the ward! Friends who called me that morning to make sure I was coming with them! Then suddenly Saturday night I find I am probably moving to Las Vegas in two weeks.
Wow.
I have to admit, it was hard. I cried all Saturday night. It was still my decision whether or not to go, but as it was pointed out to me many many times: I'd be an idiot to pass the opportunities up. My one hang up was not wanting to leave my family and friends behind in Utah to live in a city where the only people I know are my sister and her family.
I basically spent all Sunday praying about it. How could I do something that makes me want to start crying just thinking about it? By Sunday evening I didn't cry at the thought anymore. I felt OK about leaving. Sure, it was still really sudden so I was nervous and everything, but calm in a way. By Monday afternoon I was excited. Although it is getting hard to be excited about moving when everyone around me is begging me to stay. Hahaha.
I made a Pros & Cons list, as was the suggestion of many helpful friends. The pros were outweighing the cons almost the entire list. Then I started on my Irrational Pros & Cons list. Not being able to apply to be a volunteer at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival was at the top of the Cons list, but the Pros won with Brad Pitt makes it to Las Vegas more often than Orem, Utah.
This afternoon I called Elizabeth to let her know I signed my resignation papers at work today. Caroline answered the phone. After I said hi she exclaimed, "You are coming to live here, Auntie!!! You will live here and we can play and you can come over and we can have sleepovers!" That made the decision worth it. Earlier today I talked to Emma also, and she was excited that I was moving by her. She asked me when I was coming, and when I told her two week she replied, "That is not long, Auntie!"
The finer details:
I am moving into a house about five minutes away from Elizabeth's. I will have 2 roommates evetually (hopefully, for the cost of rents sake), but for the timebeing I only have one. This is going to be more of a challenge than anything else I encounter. My roommate is my 24-year-old cousin whom I don't get along with. We are totally and completely different creatures. Why did she become my roommate? Because every single one of my female friends denied the invitation. (School? What's school?) And so my mother concocted the plan. Ugh. So instead of having my James Dean/Marilyn Monroe/Elvis Presley themed house I would have had with Danielle, I am probably going to have Temples Around The World. It's "Summer '04" all over again! ;) (You know...as long as J got to fill her side of the room with temple posters I got to have my Male Model wall. Its only fair.
My dear Kenneth Cole ads,
You will once again see the light of day!
smooches,
Susannah)
How will the big move impact this little corner of the web?
I will be bringing my cute little iMac with me. Near the top of my To Do list is to get high speed internet. Hopefully I will be able to update with little interuption. Woohoo.
I will probably be longing for home for the first little while, so I make a formal request that my friends attempt to log on AIM, MSN, or Yahoo! as much as possible at night...it will help. :)
